Two tall trees with contoured trunks obscure a collection of houses suggested by overlapping red and black rectangles. The painting likely capturesa perspective from a hotel on Saint George's Island, Bermuda. Demuth lived there with his friend Marsden Hartley, where they experimented with Cubism.
